On the Road Again with the Cologne Branch of the Eifelverein: This Time to Belgium

For our blog, Eva Maria Zaghdoudi from the Cologne branch of the Eifelverein has written a guest post about a club trip to Val-Dieu Abbey.

The to-do list for a trip like this is a long one. It ranges from choosing the destination and planning the programme to booking a restaurant. We organised all of these aspects ourselves.

For the journey there and the various transfers throughout the day, we once again chose AXEL WOLF Busreisen, a coach company based in Cologne-Ehrenfeld. This gave us complete freedom in planning our programme while enjoying the comfort of being driven. Axel optimised the route to suit our needs and got us from stop to stop on time.

So how did our day unfold?

Some of our members set off from Val-Dieu on a 17-kilometre hike through meadows, crossing the many paths and stiles along the way.

The other participants were taken to the viewpoint and the Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery. Afterwards, the coach brought them to the small town of Aubel, where they visited the Jean-Paul pâtisserie. At the agreed time, we departed from the coach parking area there for a guided tour of Val-Dieu Abbey.

For the onward journey from Val-Dieu to our final dinner stop at the Three-Country Point near Vaals in the Netherlands, the coach was ready at the agreed time. Dinner started punctually, and afterwards we were able to board the coach again just a short distance from the restaurant.

After a long and eventful day, we travelled home safely and comfortably. We could relax and look back on the day — or even close our eyes for a while — while a professional driver brought us safely home.

For our next excursion to Bernkastel-Kues on 28 November 2026, we have once again booked Axel.
